Well done to TEAM NZ 2010 - Kruger Schaumkel, Sophia Faure, Grace ORourke, Katie Hendrikse, Ben Braid and Joseph Payne.

In total, there were 8 countries represented from across Asia Pacific with 48 students competing.  Teams were made up of two students each and then given a challenge – how to sell Vuvuzelas into South Africa.

Our teams were really creative and demonstrated great out of the box thinking.  One of our teams made the final round. But the overall winner went to Thailand

The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme, with The Lion Foundation as principal supporter, is administered in New Zealand by Enterprise New Zealand Trust. It is a learning experience for young people, teachers and business people in which senior secondary school students form a company; become directors; develop products and services, which they market and sell. Yes is school based and teaches skills in budgeting, planning, interpersonal relations, decision making, reporting, communications; risk management and teamwork.

Young Enterprisers
  • add value to school based knowledge
  • learn how to run a business
  • learn value of being enterprising
  • develop a "can do" attitude
  • learn to take and manage risks.
  • The scheme is supported at the local level by Regional Coordinators, who, during the year find business mentors for each company, arrange directors' seminars, trade fairs, oral and end of year presentations, and teacher/mentor training.
